UNIVERSITY RANKING RISES, MAINTAINS MOMENTUM

The enhancement in UUM ranking in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QSWUR) Under 50 this year compared to last year has had a big impact on all UUM campus community.

"Congratulations !," said the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim as she conveyed her happiness over the achievement and considered it a great development.

According to her, the UUM campus community has worked hard to ensure the university’s  success and this effort has showed results when UUM is listed in the Top 100 QS World University Rankings (QSWUR) Under 50 with a position at 81-90 compared to 101-150 in the previous year .

She added that the success has placed UUM on par with other leading universities such as Coventry University in the United Kingdom, Bayreuth University, Germany and Singapore Management University, Singapore.

"This position is also a result of the university's ongoing programs and activities involving internationalisation, staff and students mobility, cooperation with foreign universities as well as good relations with the industry.

"I hope we can maintain this momentum to ensure UUM is on the right track and continue to be success driven in the future," she said.

As for the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ayoib Che Ahmad,he said he could not be more proud of this feat.

According to him, such accomplishment will not be procured without the short and long term of careful planning over the past few years, as well as the hard work of all UUM campus community .

He said, it is proven that UUM is now world class and always thriving in line with UUM  Strategic Plan which emphasises on academics, research and innovation as well as internationalisation and so on.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Lamsali said, he is also proud and happy with the latest feat of UUM.

According to him, the success attained today is the result of hard work and continuous support from all parties from the top level to the alumni, students, staff and the industrial partners.

"This is a great year for UUM as it has been listed for the first time in the Top 100 QSWUR Under 50 and this has shown exceptional improvement.

"This enhancement is also a development that is in line with the hard work of the university’s leadership and the strong support of the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) which formulates policies and supports the university," he said.

He added that UUM has the potential to boost the ranking to a higher level by improving its academic aspects such as the quality of research, citation and publication.

The Director of the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ), Prof. Dr. Sany Sanuri Mohd. Mokhtar said, the attainment of the UUM ranking is the result of the UUM Strategic Plan and the collobaration of all parties in this university.

"I have faith that UUM can further enhance its international relations with universities abroad as it will help to achieve academic reputation and also increase international students.

"Besides that, UUM should also also establish closer ties with the industry because it will have a big impact on the achievement of the employers’ reputation and can indirectly improve the market capabilities of UUM graduates," he said.
