SURVEILLANCE AUDIT ENSURES THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CONTINUOUS QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has limited face-to-face and physical activities of people around the world, for the sake of improving the academic and administrative quality of UUM, the MS ISO 9001: 2015 Surveillance Audit was conducted virtually for three days.

According to the Senior Auditor of SIRIM QAS, Mdm. Hanida Ghazali the surveillance audit was aimed at ensuring that UUM had implemented the quality management system continuously within the prescribed certification scope.

Among them include the design and development of Bachelor and Postgraduate (OYAGSB) programmes, the provision of educational services for undergraduate and postgraduate students (OYAGSB) as well as the provision of research, publications, library services and other support services.

The audit exercise involved several Schools and Centres of Authority (PTJ) namely the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ), Risk Management Unit (Chancellery), Training Unit (Registrar’s Department), IBS, Integrity Unit (Chancellery), UUMIT, Development and Maintenance Department (JPP), SEML, CETMA, UTLC, SOL, HEA and UUM Press.

The auditors from SIRIM thanked the members of the meeting for their willingness to attend the MS ISO 9001: 2015 Surveillance Audit Opening Meeting via Webex.

Meanwhile, according to the Director of IPQ, Prof. Dr. Sany Sanuri Mohd. Mokhtar, the preparation made by the staff to receive the series of audit visits namely certification or surveillance audits had become part of the work practices and culture at UUM.

He also expressed his confidence that all of the UUM denizens possessed the commitment to remain steadfast in implementing quality practices at UUM.

“UUM has always been open to any suggestions made and constantly take heed of the reprimands submitted by SIRIM for the purpose of improving our quality management system.

"I am counting on everyone to provide the SIRIM Audit QAS team with their fullest cooperation and commitment throughout the three-day audit exercise," he said.

The MS ISO 9001: 2015 Surveillance Audit led by Mdm. Hanida Ghazali was also attended by Mdm. Aisyah Haron and Lt. Col. (B) Abd Lataf Daud.
