SURVEILLANCE AUDIT ASSISTS UNIVERSITY IN IMPROVING MANAGEMENT EFFICIENCY

UUM will be subjected to a three-day online MS ISO 9001: 2015 Surveillance Audit by SIRIM QAS beginning today and ending on 1 December.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor, stated that the surveillance audit was conducted to ensure that the client's quality management system remained compliant with the ISO 9001: 2015 standard.

According to him, SIRIM had assisted UUM significantly in terms of efficiency and work management methods, and he expressed hope that the three-day audit would proceed smoothly with the cooperation of all parties.

He said the audit would be conducted in accordance with the certification's scope, which included design in the development of undergraduate programmes, educational services for students, research allocation, publication consultation, and library services, among others.

“In addition, SIRIM QAS will conduct a surveillance audit of OYAGSB, focusing on the quality management system of programmes offered by OYAGSB.

“UUM is always ready to receive this audit visit, which has become a routine, and I hope it will help us to improve the way we work continuously, "he said at the Opening Meeting of the MS ISO 9001: 2015 Surveillance Audit via Webex this morning.

Prof. Dr Haim Hilman further reiterated that the SIRIM audit was a practise conducted yearly, so much so that it had become a work culture, and UUM would make sure that all of its denizens remained committed to maintaining this certification in the future.

According to him, the university was ready and was open to receiving any views and advice from the SIRIM QAS team in order to ensure that UUM remained competitive as a national public university that supported the quality aspect.

Meanwhile, the Chief Auditor of the SIRIM QAS, Mdm. Hanida Ghazali, said the three-day surveillance audit exercise conducted on UUM was the second after the first audit was held last year.

According to her, together with three other auditors, audit exercises would be conducted on several schools and departments, namely the Sultanah Bahiyah Library, School of Computing, School of Economics, Finance and Banking, the Institute of Quality Management, the Risk Management Office, and OYAGSB.

"Thank you for the continuous cooperation given by UUM and I hope this cooperation is for the long term for the good of UUM in particular," she said.
