UUM ANTICIPATES A SEAMLESS SIRIM QAS AUDIT VISIT

With the cooperation of the university's residents, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) anticipates a seamless SIRIM QAS Audit Visit for the MS ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit.

Prof. Dato' Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, the Vice-Chancellor, expressed UUM's commitment to providing its full cooperation to ensure the audit exercise proceeds efficiently.

According to him the goal of the 27th audit is to guarantee that UUM continues to manage quality audits within the current certification scope.

He said that at the UUM level, surveillance by SIRIM will ensure that principles, conformity, and compliance are upheld, ensuring that UUM consistently adheres to the scope of certification established by SIRIM.

"UUM has consistently established a quality management system that encompasses three components, namely the design and development of educational programs, the provision of educational services and management of research, publishing, library services, and additional support services.

"Through this surveillance audit, I hope that UUM will continue to thrive in alignment with the evolving standards of ISO. This year is the 27th year, and undoubtedly UUM will enhance and refine the work process and compliance to all aspects related to fostering the culture of quality among its officers and staff," he said at the opening of the SIRIM QAS Audit Meeting held at the Vice-Chancellor's Meeting Room, yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Head Auditor of SIRIM, Mdm. Hanida Ghazali, expressed her gratitude to UUM for its readiness to undergo the surveillance audit for the second time this year.

According to her, next year SIRIM will conduct a re-certification audit before the end of December 2025.

She expressed hope that this audit would prove advantageous for UUM. The most recent revision of ISO 9001 includes enhancements that incorporate the elements related to climate change.

Over the course of three days starting yesterday until 9 October, a total of three auditors were responsible for conducting audits at several schools and centres of authority.
